Soon, if you purchase a lot of pet food, checkout kiosks will ask you questions such as "Do you want to apply a 10% discount for this purchase today?"
You could choose to use the discount then, or bank it for a future purchase.
Some stores are already using a similar method. For example, Pet's Plus stores your purchases and automatically banks discounts for you. At the checkout the clerk may inform you that you have a certain amount of money stored in your account, and would you like to use it now or later. They also sometimes give you discount coupons you can use on future purchases.
This makes perfect sense and it shows that retailers understand how consumers think. We know we buy a lot of certain items - more than the average person purchases. We rightly feel we should be rewarded in some way. Shoppers aren't just blindly making bulk purchases of certain items and not giving the possibility of a discount a thought.
I will be exploring these new changes to shopping and sharing the updates with you here at targeteddiscounts.com .
